A Christmas Prayer

This is a copy of a prayer I wrote for Christmas 2003 and I still hold the same sentiments today.

dear god,

please, let there be peace on earth.

these are dangerous times we live in lord.

give us the strength to endure the tauntsand persecutions brought upon us for pursuing justice, truth, mercy, and peace.we long for a just society.

we hunger for a culture that does not glorify war.

we desire structures and systems which affirm ratherthan deny life.

lead us out of our self-imposed darkness.

let us not be blind or indefferent to our suffering world.

rather let us take on the powers that be.

may we provide a voice for the voiceless.

may we spread the ministery of liberation from oppression.

we were made free so that we might set free.

let every word we speak, action we take, thought we think increase the sum total of human freedom.

the veil is rent.

the holy of holies is here and now and everywhere.

the sanctum sanctorium is the orphanage, the soup kitchen, the public toilet.

give us the conviction to speak your message of freedom and peace.

let us be guerrillas for freedom and challenge oppression and slavery in every formand let us not be afriad.

as your angels say, let us "fear not."
